Ice Time™ is produced by NextGen Environmental Research Inc. (NGE), a Canadian Research and Development firm that builds innovative technologies using the internet, satellites, and drones. The new science that proved radar satellite images could map lake ice was funded by the Canadian Space Agency, starting in 2017.  We studied the ice cover of 83 lakes over several winters. We documented satellite radar signatures from water and lake ice and how they can change from freeze up to break up.

The project, believed to be the first of its kind in the world, was extraordinarily successful. The project story has been published in more than 12 magazines.

NGE processes the satellite images you receive to a quality like that found in scientific publications. Each image is inspected by scientific and technical staff that report information to you. When you use Ice Time™ it’s like you have an ice specialist beside you!

NGE is a vetted corporation that is provided access to radar image data that is not available to the public.
